In the early years, Fisherman's Wharf was a gathering place for fishermen of Taihu Lake, with more than 100 fishing boats moored for a long time, which formed the wharf. In 1997, after the first phase of development and construction of South Taihu Lake, many tourists came to play and eat. As a result, fishermen here had a new livelihood and built 24 catering boats, forming a lake Fresh Street. In 2007, the Huzhou government decided to renovate Huxian Street, demolish the catering boats and build the Fisherman's Wharf we see now, because the catering boats had polluted the water to some extent, and the typhoon season brought certain safety risks.
